Apple Tree Limb Fence

On Saturday Kendall helped me out with some pruning... well maybe that is the other way around. If you can picture me holding the extention ladder keeping my eyes closed because I just couldn't watch and to avoid getting saw dust in my eyes and Kendall holding on for dear life with one hand and chainsaw in the other. They were some pretty stubborn limbs but Kendall did not let them win! Boy were they sorry when he was finished! ha ha They were hanging above the house and we have been needing to take them down for a while. It is a really large Apple tree and we are going to be trimming on it a lot in the next couple of years to get it so that it is easier to pick the apples and also in hopes of getting some bigger apples. So once we were done with the trimming I decided that I didn't want to load the limbs for the green dump to utilize when I could put it to use right here in my own yard. As they say..."Waste Not, Want Not!" So I had an idea. Chloe our Golden Retriever has been chewing on my little lilac bushes that we planted last spring and I was not very happy about that so I decided to build a little fence with the limbs from the apple tree. No supplies needed!! At first I tried to get it so that it would weave together like a basket but that was not working out so I had to get out the bailing wire. With the posts I left some of the stronger branches on them and attached it to the next post with the bailing wire. It actually turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself! Just planted my Peas under the fence and plan on helping them climb up it. So there you go. I think I will start posting some of the fun projects that I do around my 116 year old home.
